PSHE
Intent
At St Nicholas School, we believe that Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) enables our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of a society. At St Nicholas we promote a warm and caring community where all individuals are valued and we work hard to create a secure and happy atmosphere. We believe that the personal, social and health development of each child, in conjunction with their citizenship skills, has a significant role in their ability to learn.
The provision of planned learning experiences through the use of the 1 Decision scheme gives children the knowledge, skill and understanding to fulfil their individual potential and develop their responsibilities towards themselves and others in school, and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. We recognise that children need to learn about many emotional aspects of life and how to manage their own emotions.
We strive to provide our children with learning opportunities across and beyond the curriculum, in specific lessons, circle time, special school projects and other activities that enrich pupils’ experiences. Our children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community.
