Bid success for future readers!

As a parent or career of a child at our school you will have seen information coming out about being involved in a special project in partnership with the University of Belfast, Ruth Miskin Training, Educational Endowment Foundation and Oxford University Press.  This is to support our readers across the school and support and develop phonics knowledge for all of our children.  Enabling them to be the very best readers they can be.

We are proud in our school that we have 53% of children with English as an additional language and between us we speak a grand total of 23 languages! From September all of our staff will be trained by experts in the field of reading and phonics and the school will be working with our partners in supporting all readers but especially those who have english as an additional language and our early readers.

More information will come out nearer the time but what I can tell you now is that staff will be trained on 1st September and 21st October (Please note change of inset day from 31st October to 21st October 2016)  and colleagues from the partners listed above will be in school off and on over a 2 year program

This is a great opportunity for our school and especially for our children.  The bid is worth literally thousands of pounds in staff development which can only benefit all of our children and I look forward to sharing the positive results with you all.
