Goodbye to Carol, Brenda and Iain

PUPILS have been saying their fond farewells to three staff members who have clocked up nearly 100 years of service between them at their primary school.

Teacher Brenda Chapman, chair of governors Iain Sillars and premises manager Carol Gledhill are all retiring from St Nicholas Primary School, having each worked at the school for more than 30 years.

Mrs Chapman, who has also taught many of the parents of children at the school, has shown immense dedication to her job, not only in the classroom but accompanying the children on numerous residential school trips and helping raise money for the Parent Teacher Association.

Mr Sillars has worked with no less than six headteachers in his time as governor and chair of governors at the school. And Mrs Gledhill, who started as a welfare assistant at St Nicholas, has not only been a key member of the office staff, but has also been the school pianist for many years.

Headteacher at St Nicholas Sarah Stevens said: “Brenda, Iain and Carol have all been highly valued members of our school and will be sorely missed by everyone. We wish them all a well-deserved, happy and healthy retirement.”

Goodbye Brenda, Carol and Iain
