Intent
At St. Nicholas our aim is to develop in children the joy of making and creating something either independently or in groups via our Design and Technology Curriculum. We want our children to develop the skills of problem solving, critical thinking, teamwork and perseverance. We feel it is vital to help pupils understand that knowledge from many subject areas can come together in designing a product. We strive to provide children with the opportunities to use their creativity to design products that can solve real world problems considering the needs of the end user.
We would like the children to understand the design process, to make products (that move, light up, are structurally sound and safe), to be able to evaluate their work and reflect on the whole process.
